Caulfield may be a budding genius – but he is still a kid in his understanding of human nature, apparently. Does he really think she has only the schoolteacher face and life?
I actually wrote a parody country song called “How Can I Miss You If You Won’t Go Away.” It’s one of my most requested. Still to write: “If I’d Shot You When I Wanted To I’d Be Out By Now” and “I’m So Miserable When Your Gone, It’s Almost Like You’re Here.”
In normal circumstances she’d be delighted that Caufield will be moving on to the next class in the Fall. However, Bill Murray will show up sometime in the next couple of months and then he’s back in her class again.
Benny Goodman was popular in the 30’s and 40’s. Even right at retirement age (65) Mrs. Olsen wouldn’t have been born until the mid-to-late 50’s, and would have been a teenager (when most people’s musical tastes are formed) in the early seventies. More likely Bennie and the Jets than Benny Goodman.
Play a country song backwards and your dog comes back; you get your job back and your wife returns too.(Getting your job back doth make your wife’s return more likely.)

It’s a good thing she lost Caulfield, because he just got burned.

You know… Frazz has probably written a few great country songs.

Knowing a musical reference doesn’t mean that you listen to that music.

How come country songs are not about plowing, planting, and harvesting, but all about BS?

Charlie Parker (“Bird”) would be hip, but I don’t think she’d dig him.

I like alt-country and classic country works for me as well but I have no love for modern country music.

I’ve talked to your mother and I’ve talked to your dad
They say they’ve tried but it’s all in vain
I’ve begged and I’ve pleaded, I even got mad
Now we must face it, you give me a pain

What? No mention of the very real song, “Thank God and Greyhound You’re Gone”, by Roy Clark?
