“You must be Vera Alldid and Mysta Chimera!” is obviously for the benefit of the reader, because Brock must already know who they are. I see that he has more than one of those living “wooden soldiers.” They still look kind of like French Foreign Legion to me. Compare:
I feel like I should know the guy in the picture behind the staircase, but I can’t place him. The ones behind Vera and Mysta look like maybe Gasoline Alley characters.
Neil Wick, my friend, I was digging around some old strips this morning, and I noticed that in Vera’s first encounter with Mysta, he grabbed her hand.

So, both times Vera has been zapped by Mysta, it was after he laid hands on her. There’s been some discussion about this in previous days, and I thought you’d want to know.
Neill, I found “Origins of Sunday Funnies” on this site, and finally saw some “Yellow Kid” drawings. The detail in those cartoons and strips is amazing! Thank goodness for the zoom function on my smartphone! Yeah, the Yellow Kid wasn’t Chinese as I thought. Well, this is going to occupy me for a while!
I love the lips in this one . I’m having trouble getting into this comic strip for some reason . I just do not understand the electrodes in her head ? And it looks like " elf " ears in her head also . I’m sorry but I’m waiting for Daisy and Yeti to come back . ??
Brock University (Ontario) has comics scholars and professors on its teaching staff and offers various courses in comics studies, including The Superhero in American Culture. I don’t doubt that there are, in their libraries, archival materials supporting those courses. There have even been at the school events that might be called scholarly comic-cons.
That’s definitely Smilin’ Jack behind the staircase. I’m amazed Wick didn’t know this. I think the two “wooden soldiers” are part of a marching band that got lost. Isn’t this exciting, guessing what background stuff is and ignoring the story?
You go to a home of a rich eccentric who dresses his servants like the palace guards in a “Prisoner of Zenda” remake and your internal alarms should be going off.
I feel pretty sure that the contents of Vile Alldone’s portfolio are not the “original art” he’s peddling to Brock Archival!
Brock’s tin soldier Grenadiers may feel the jolting wrath of Mysta, but somehow, I suspect, Brock, probably with Vile’s revenge-driven assistance, will manage to lock her into his vault for Special Collections. And the movie parallel (The Collector, 1965) plays out….

Mysta’s looking great, but what’s up with the marching band uniforms?

That chauffeur outfit is even goofier today. The Nurcracker?

(Actually, I’m not sure those are French.)

Good morning™, ‘polite society’ schemers !
That guy puts the “pomp” in pompadour. The dye in Mysta’s uniform has spread to her legs.

The “marching band” uniforms would explain why the chauffeur was wearing a hat like the one in the 1st. panel…
Mr. Archival is eccentric…
And is anybody seeing a similarity of Archival’s home and Neverland ?

He’ll be trying to “purchase” Mad Mindy in a day or two. He can have her! LOL!

I wonder who does Mysta’s makeup and wig. Does she do it herself? Who made her costume?
Jab Jr 1957 about 3 years ago
Is it only a coincidence that both Archival and Alldid are wearing turtlenecks and unbuttoned jackets?

The part of Brock Archival is being played by Tom Selleck

So his name is Brock Archival?

Your marching band must be really dull! Those are palace guards. Ever seen the Brit’s guards or the Vatican’s.

A business transaction first, then Mysta and Vera will get a tour of the estate.
