We’re about to see what America’s future will be … a constitutional quasi-democratic republic or an authoritarian dictatorship. I’m a trump hater, like most. But I was ashamed of myself for taking pleasure from the indictments (Which admittedly, I did). Our country is wounded—and it’s a sad sad time— one it will take a long time to recover from.

Well, we will see if Trump finally gets nabbed and convicted. Meaning he can’t run for the Presidency in 2024 (or any other kind of political office). As for the Court ruling on the Arizona voting rules, have a little faith. We need to encourage our friends and family members (particularly Democrats, moderate Republicans and independent swing voters) to turn out strongly in this year’s off-year races as well as in next year’s midterms. With luck and perseverance, we can expand the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate and pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and/or the We the People Act. And perhaps even expand the number of Supreme Court Justices from 9 to 12. But we will never accomplish that if we just throw up our hands and say “game over!” As James Baldwin wrote, “Not every problem that is faced can be solved, but no problem can be solved that isn’t faced”.
