A Malthusian economist would have taken whatever would have been offered.

A Keynesian Economist in 1996? It was not up to date.

This attitude by employers has finally hit the wall. ‘Help wanted’ signs up everywhere.

I understand that GARRY is being humorous with sarcasm but after 40 years in the field of education (30 at the university level) a lot of this story arc rings too true for comfort. When I retired the adminstration (acting under pressure from politicians) seemed to care only about numbers of students enrolled rather than quality of education. Indeed many students were more appropriately candidates for trade schools (a worthy and necessary endeavor) than for university. I still had a lot of insight and wisdom to impart to students when I retired but just could no longer suffer fools — administrators as well as students.

Some of the comments remind me of the song I Did It Their Way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFDKF2QFx8Q

Actually, it was the Living Wage part that stopped him.

Only Male employees get the Living Wage package.
