Sorry, Nate. You’re permanently trapped in the perpetual Hell that is Ms. Godfrey’s 6th grade Social Studies class, because you’re gonna keep on coming back to 6th grade, again and again and again, ad nauseam.

Poll: if Nate could get back with one of his exes, who would it be? Angie, Kelly, or Trudy? I personally would pick Kelly because she seemed to be the one for Nate and they still would be dating if Nate didn’t break up with her so he could make a move on Jenny. In case you don’t remember, Angie dumped Nate for another guy, while Trudy refused to hang out with Nate’s friends.

Third through seventh grades, I was in a little church school that had four teachers for eight grades. The vicar taught kindergarten.

If you want to get away from her, just graduate to the fourth grade

This gets more dreary by the panel.

last day of summer

I wish that the twist would’ve come later. Let me rewrite this week in my way (not last week):

Monday: Nate walks into the building, relieved that he’ll never see Mrs. Godfrey again.

Tuesday: Nate goes to homeroom, whom he happens to have Ms. Clarke. Nate still thinking about not having Mrs. Godfrey.

Wednesday: Ms. Clarke hands out the schedules, and Nate gasps when he gets his.

Thursday: Nate tells Teddy and Francis that he somehow has Mrs. Godfrey for 5th period. Teddy jokes about how Nate can never get away from her.

Friday: Nate walls into Mrs. Godfrey’s classroom, hoping there’s a typo on his schedule. As Mrs. Godfrey calls out his name in attendance, Nate realizes it’s hopeless.

Saturday: Nate asks Mrs. Godfrey why she’s still teaching 6th grade. Mrs. Godfrey uses the same explanation as in yesterday’s actual arc.

This is how I wanted the arc to go. Now, we have 4 more strips of Nate griping about Mrs. Godfrey.

I just don’t understand why we can’t get any long-term arcs that do something different anymore.

It’s almost as if there’s someone controlling Nate’s life for the sake of amusement, isn’t it?

And you really expected a different response from her?……

I’m getting serious vibes to the time where they thought Mrs.Godfrey was moving, and it turned out she was moving across the street.

I don’t know if i wanna keep looking at the Big Nate comics. they now just feel so repetitive when it comes to Mrs. Godfrey. An opportunity opens up for nate to finally escape her, but the next day comes for a new comic, and it’s revealed that godfrey is still Nate’s teacher (goddammit).

Disappointing storyline. Kind of a tease. Would have liked to actually seen a new teacher/different adversary.

I would cry if I had to keep repeating the 6th grade every year too! lol

Since I didnt say it yesterday (I was on a vacation), this was so expected it was barely a twist

Nate, you can always just scream, throw over your desk and jump out the window.

Nate going back to school during this comic’s 30th anniversary is the perfect event to say this. If you also hate Mrs. Godfrey and wished that she’s really going to 8th grade this year, you’ve fallen into Nate’s trap. This is all Nate’s fault. He doesn’t want to learn anything, except art and stuff. He’s making you think Mrs. Godfrey is an abomination when actually, she’s just there to him get through with Social Studies. More stuff coming sooner or later.
