Well if this is congress you know who is on the “right” and who is on the “left” and the “armistice” is the compromise that guys like Biden, Manchin and Ms Sinema claim to be seeking on a variety of issues….

Seems each ‘soldier of Islam’ is his own judge, jury, and mostly executioner. In that situation, there can be no effective central government, no matter who becomes the titular head. The folks who even vaguely thought that a compromise or truce would be possible were in denial of hundreds of years of violence and suppression. Wars about political ideology were one kind and possibly winnable. Wars of religious ideology have never ended.

My father said during WWII there would be local armistices around Christmas. War is so stupid!

It looks like the corporation " Halliburton " won’t be rebuilding Afghanistan after all . I wonder what all of the last 2 years has cost the " whole world " not just the USA ?

It should be a case of take the money and run, but boy are we slow. We gave the money instead. Twenty years? Good grief!

I remember the original time he ran this picture because it was one of my all time favorites – “Why pessimists outlive optimists.” But it works in so many ways …

On Christmas Eve, 1914 on the Western Front in World War I, peace broke out in several place along the line. Soldiers who could not even speak each others’ language crossed into no man’s land, showed pictures of loved ones to each other, exchanged small gifts and even played soccer. They succeeded, for a brief moment, where diplomats had failed.

High commands and leaders on both sides put a stop to that immediately.

Politicians start wars and expect soldiers to finish them.

War is the ultimate negative sum game. Nobody wins a war; one side merely manages to lose it to a lesser extent.

In regards to negative sum games: don’t play. If you are forced to play, get it over with as soon as possible.

    “ War. War never changes.

The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth.Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory.Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.

    But war never changes.”

Who knew that Afghanistan would fall as fast as it did? Like in Syria, Vietnam, and other countries. Where the leaders, advisors, ambassadors who drank the Kool-aid said it’ll never happen right up until the last. Never happen in Benghazi either. Whoops.

Time to enforce a vaccination mandate to retain the right to work for a living at all and enforce mask mandates with violations being prosecuted as attempted mass murder.
