“Dumb phone” is a little bit harsh. “Counterintuitive” phone might work better, and be a more accurate description. My new phone would seem to have the flashlight turn on randomly. I then realized it responded to gestures, if you hold it and make a quick up and down gesture the light will turn on or off.
For a while I thought the phone had a bug, but it was doing exactly what it was meant to do. I thought to myself, ’Who’s the counterintuitive one now, dummy?’
Since when does a dedicated verbal communication device need bells and whistles? Answer: never. However, if you are purchasing a bell and whistle device that incidentally can verbally communicate, go for it. Most young people today don’t call anyway, they text…..
I’m afraid I’m with Gladys on this one. I’m fascinated by technology and what it can do. Therefore, I get a new phone every two years or so, and love to play with the new features. What do I do the least on it? Talk. For that, I prefer our old-fashioned landline. Go figure.
Me, I have a dumb-phone, but alas, not as dumb as I’d like. It will still connect to the i’net if I’m not careful. It is, h’ever, neither android nor iOS powered, so there is that. Costs $25/mo for text and voice — and I’m happy, happy, happy. You want one, check w/ Credo Mobile and ask (it’s not listed on the catalog page) for a ZTE phone and insist on getting the lowest possible data plan. You’ll get a little push-back, but nothing hard sell.
someday brutus will learn that the smartest approach is to just get your spouse what she wants right from the get-go. rather than trying to put it off…

Given the increased spying being done on smartphones, I might just go back to my old dumbphone, AKA the flip phone.

Now why would Gladys need a “smart phone” when she has Brutus around with all his “smartness!!”

I refuse to have a “phone” that is “smarter” than I! I almost understand my “flip phone!”

Tred lightly, Brutus. Gladys has that look.

There’s a very good chance that the smartphone was obsolete before you got home…

Good move Brutus. You bought Gladys a practical smart phone instead of overpaying, like a lot of people do, for a glitzy model.

Gladys is trying not to say: “Dumb Husband”.

A really “Smart” phone would really know what I really want/need; a phone that really pays for itself.

At least she’s insulting the phone and not you Brutus. He can put that one in the win column.

I just got one and I’m trying to figure it out. It says it’s a smart phone but I call it a smart a$$! My grandson is helping me with it now ;-)
