I rode an ambulance once. I was 12 and looked to be 5. I was crossing a crosswalk and a VW bug was coming. I could see it was going to hit me, so I jumped up so I wouldnât go under it. Next thing I knew, I was laying there and a man had his hand on me saying, âjust lay still.â The ambulance guys came and tied me to their little board and took me to the hospital, where they cut everything I was wearing off me. Even my shoes. âCâmon, Iâm little. If I go like this my shoes fall off.â After much prodding and x-raying and poking, Mom came with a pair of pants and I walked out of the hospital with no shoes or shirt or undiesâŠ
