Usually have the headphones on when out for the daily walk :-)

No fear of the battery going dead.

It may also be called whistling.

Not too many years ago I was shocked when I realized the background “music” in the mall was rap.

When my kids were teenagers, I delighted in telling them where their ‘new music’ came from because many of the hits were actually covers of songs I (or my parents) listened to. Soon my son will be able to do the same to/for his kids. Of course, some music (like some musicians) just rolls on. RIP Charlie Watts and Don Everly.

Only problem with that is once you get it started, that’s the only one you’ll remember for the whole walk.

We all learned to hum along with “The Star-Spangled Banner” at public events (after the first verse). :)

I carried mail for 35 years. I sang or whistled or hummed my way around my mail route. I never carried a radio. My music was effective. it kept the dogs away. i never got a case of dog-bite.
