Arranging one’s sock drawer takes some thought. Of course, one can always dump the clean wash in the drawer and then search for a pair first thing in the morning.
Drawers don’t need any organization — When one retrieves the clean laundry from your friendly [and chatty] ethnic person [who you pay per pound], then just jam it into the empty space left by what you just sent out. Then whatever is left on top gets worn. Simple!
Jon should do what I do. I only buy black dress socks and white sports socks. It’s pretty hard to mix up the two when I put them on. Just grab two out of the drawer that look alike.
By the way, I just checked on what I had always assumed, that “beck” is an archaic form of “beckon”. It is. But it seems that it’s also Scottish dialect for making a beckoning gesture.
Out of curiosity, the original British expression was “beckon call” which actually makes a lot more sense. Mind you, “beck and call” is not uncommon these days, possibly as an import from the USA. I presume someone heard “beckon call” as “beck ’n call” and wrote it as they heard it. Isn’t English wonderful?
Hey, Jon, why not just ask the Brain (from “Arthur”) to invent a sock-sorting machine for you? That would take things off your chest and give you more time to actually feed Garfield.
Well there’s always countin’ flowers on the wall, or playin’ solitaire ‘til dawn, with a deck of fifty-one, and there’s also smokin’ cigarettes and watchin’ Captain Kangaroo. So don’t tell Jon he has nothin’ to do.
John, you seem to forget what pets are. You brought them into your home…you take care of them. So therefore you technically are at their beck and call.

Don’t get Garfield to sort Jon’s socks, he’ll shred them to pieces.

And those coloring books aren’t going to color themselves.

I’d rather be a slave to a sock drawer and other assorted laundry, than Garfield.

It has been years since I have needed to organize the sock drawer. Everything has a place.

What do you think the sock drawer will do? Clean itself up? :(

beck and call? you aren’t serious, are you?

Beck, maybe, call, perhaps, but not both.
By the way, I just checked on what I had always assumed, that “beck” is an archaic form of “beckon”. It is. But it seems that it’s also Scottish dialect for making a beckoning gesture.
And there’s another meaning, but it’s irrelevant.

Jon Garfield does have a point.
Firestar about 3 years ago
Yeah, including Binky the Clown ones. But, Garfield does have a point; that drawer isn’t going to do that itself.
