I’ve only been able to go to a racetrack with my wife once. She bet $2 on all 8 races and she won money on all but one race. As a teen she was a horse fanatic and between being able to “read” a horse in the pre-parade ring and reading the racing sheet she was very accurate. The one race she didn’t win was because my goofy sister liked the name of one horse so they bet on that one.
Back in the 1990s I worked in a factory (single mom – best money). The guys had a Superbowl Pool. This one year they decided to fleece the women by “letting” them in on it. I studied up a bit, placed my bet and won not only the final but the half time prizes. I used the money to get my teen daughter a prom dress, something she would have had to go without otherwise. I never minded the pissed off guys, they didn’t matter. She did.
“You know you are a fuddy-duddy when….” you tried betting once – Oreos in poker with your wife – and realized you didn’t like the stress. (True story!)
When the lottery came to Arizona and the jackpot reached $3 million my wife bought five tickets. I gave her a hard time about it and she said, “You wouldn’t give me a hard time if I won!” I replied, “Yes I would, for buying four losing tickets.”
Not to speak for Jimmy, but I imagine he is like me. So glad to see so much interest for Auburn. When you live in a State, where your looked down on, ridiculed, and badgered by Tide Fans no matter if you win or loose. War Eagle!

For Bama fans, beating the spread is about all the excitement we have left.

And to think “Beating the spread” one time meant hanging it over a clothes line.

What does Janis and the Dalai Lama have in common? He also loves Tibet.
What does Arlo have in common with vampires? They both get nervous when the stakes are raised.

Janis is too smart to put any real money on sports betting.
I hope.

Ha ha ha … Janis reminds me of so much of my oldest sister, especially in a strip like today’s.

I know the feeling. Over the weekend at a HS football game I won the “split-the-pot” – $600. First time in my life I’ve ever won anything.
