I had a convertible and it was not uncommon to use the A/C with the top down in the summer. They look pretty cool, but the summer sun beating down made riding around with the top down very uncomfortable. It was much more pleasant in the spring and fall.
When I had my Pontiac Solstice I always ran the AC while driving in the summer and the heater in the early spring and late fall. It was our date night car. Sadly I had to sell it as my wife and I aged, we had trouble getting in and out of it because it was so low to the ground.
I’ve been poor most of my life. But, I’ve saved much of what I had. I am a real skinflint. I watch how much water I use, how much electricity I consume, how far I drive, I even have a Nissan Leaf to save on getting around town expenses (3 cents a mile beats 16 cents a mile, anyday).
That is definitely wasteful and Veeblefester didn’t get rich by being wasteful. I would have said that he was so rich, that when he walks on the beech in his bathing suit, he doesn’t even bother sucking in his stomach and yet all the girls will flock over him……
I did that when I had my Mustang Convertible. Wife, youngest daughter and I would go on day long drives with the top down and the AC on coldest because temps in late Aug in that part of MI were usually in the 90s

I just checked my dictionary and the word loaded has 3 different meanings in American slang. And no one positive.

Veeblefester is just trying to do his part to reverse global warming?

I leave mine on with the windows open, fresh mixed with cold air or in the winter mixed with warm air. Nice.

Used to drive my boxster with top down all the time – with AC on when really hot and heater on when especially chilly

I’m surprised he drove a convertible with the top down. Isn’t it difficult to keep his “rug” on that way?

the only people we ever see driving convertibles are guys in their 70s or older – young guys can’t afford them…
