When I was in grade school, none of the teachers had food or drink in the classroom. Well, in kindergarten and grade 1, we did get a milk and cookie/cracker break, though I never saw Miss Page partake (I wasn’t really watching her anyway. At that age, cookies were more important).
I’d point out the difference between the smell of coffee cooling down in a mug and the increasingly acrid smell of a pop tart blackening or a Croque Monsieur burning.
Caulfield’s best ‘surprise,’ at least to my way of thinking, occurred on Feb 2, 2015. Excellent strip and the one that I think of when commenters slam Caulfield as thoughtless or just a smart aleck. Most young children exhibit that thoughtful trait from time to time. Mallett appears to have omitted it from the strip in years since.

Get a Sunbeam radiant toaster. No popping, you toasty goodness.

And a microwave would be even worse — every time someone starts it, Europe begins singing “The Final Countdown.”

I hope her bun doesn’t land in his toaster. That’ll smell awful!

I had a flashback to Mr. Weatherbee in “Archie.” His little wisp of hair was always flying off in moments of shock or surprise.

She orders those buns online, right? Every time I see it, I get an urge to eat a cinnamon bun because it’s drawn a lot like one.

Because the power cord is a trip hazard.

That’s a wig? She’s better off without it.

Did you bring enough toast for everybody?
