If it was on an island I would think it was Alcatraz.

And let’s not forget (shameless plug here), Laurel Hill Cemetery! For two nights (October 22nd and 23rd), the cemetery hosts Soul Crawl, evening tours by flashlight, led by veteran guides (like me).

Soul Crawl stories are sometimes horrifying, sometimes funny, and always absolutely true. You really can’t make this stuff up.

That’s the most fabulous “Penitentiary” sign I’ve ever seen.

Funny joke, but ghosts are locked to the place of their death via some great trauma. Thus, they couldn’t leave even if they wanted.

I like Bart Simpson’s take on haunted penitentiaries: “It’s just an abandoned prison. All the murderers are long dead. And I’m sure their ghosts are probably in hell.”

Hilarious! My wife and I are visiting Philly later this month, mixing business and pleasure in one trip. We just booked tickets to tour the Eastern State Penitentiary, and now this story shows up!
