So basically the clothes the characters wear every day are “timeless lifestyles”..

smidge of self-absorption in their, nate. (He wants everybody to copy him)

You know, this isn’t really breaking the fourth wall. It’s stretching it, yes, but it’s already been stated that these characters canonically wear the same clothes every day simply because they choose to, or don’t think about it. Breaking the fourth wall is when you either directly acknowledge that you’re in a fictional world, or make a self-reference meta enough to show it’s definitely a wink-wink at the audience, by either the characters or author. When they poke at the concept of staying the same age and grade forever, that’s maybe a little bit of a fourth wall break. When Teddy disappears after Lincoln ‘forgets to draw him,’ that’s a fourth wall break, in a more modern sense of the term. In, say, Garfield, when he is shown sleeping in the first two panels, then says with alarm, “I’ve slept through today’s strip!” THAT’S an example of a true fourth wall break: he actively acknowledges that he knows himself to exist in a comic strip. This is not a fourth wall break, it’s referencing what the characters know about their own world, with no mention of a relationship to ours. It’s a stretch, a crack at most, not a break.

The Nate Wright lifestyle is also getting bad grades, getting detention and getting beat up.

Wow, this could actually be a interesting and good arc, sure hope Peirce doesn’t ruin it like the other times this year we had a chance of a good arc

I mean, Teddy and Francis also wear the same clothes always, as do many people in this strip, but at least they aren’t making TeddyWear or FrancisWear or something

I’m really hoping this will be a good arc, since we haven’t had many this year. Also, I would probably buy this NateWear stuff if it exists, I mean I could probably find the shirt somewhere I guess.

I don’t know if Peirce actually reads these comments, but if he does I want to ask him this: Are any BN characters based off real-life people from your childhood, and if not then how much of the strip, if any part, is based off your childhood?
