Probably the li’l old ladies have years of suppressed hatred of dentists.

Worked a ‘fright park’ many years ago. All dressed up in costume, they handed me a good stick and said “Use it if you have to….don’t let anyone grab you!” That was good advice because one guy did try to grab me and he did get the business end of that stick!

“Is it safe yet?” That was a scary dentist.

Who let the old broad with the walker in? Her tennis balls messed up the hay!

This is my argument against “surprise scaring” people, especially when it’s not Halloween: it might be a feisty older woman; it could just as easily be an ex-Special Forces soldier who will take you down to the floor.
