They are too busy texting and donât carry markers any more. I worked at a university once and they had paper panels in the stalls that got changed when they got full.
Looks like Arlo is in a supermarket. Iâve never thought of them a great places for graffiti. Bars or old time service stations are an entirely different story.
Did you see that Arlo Guthrie is getting married? To his long-time girlfriend Marti. Why do I say this here? Someone told me that Arlo Guthrie and Janis Joplin were the inspiration of our two friends here!
I think we were all better off withOUT social media, Arlo. Paint can cover up the graffiti. What you post on those sites can never be âpainted over.â
There used to be a fair amount of graffiti in womenâs rooms too. Some crude, some funny, some poetic. But the favorite was the artistâs name and her boyfriendâs with a heart around it. I always wondered if she went back to wipe it off when they broke up.
This makes me think to a number of years back when a restaurant in downtown Raleigh, NC (Finchâs for anyone in the area) was closing after many decades. They let people write messages on one of the walls and I saw one message near the ceiling in big letters that said âI met my wife here!â I was soooo tempted to get up on a chair and write down âHey! I met your wife here too!â
As i observed while doing maintenance at an el-high school, the girlsâ washrooms had much more graffiti and it was âWAY nastier that that in the boysâ loos.

A manâs ambition is indeed small to write upon a bathroom wall
