There was a TV show when I was a kid, where the person would look through a mirror and name all the kids she could āseeā; I donāt think I ever heard my name, though I anxiously waited for it every time!
Yup. I remember things like this happening in grade school all right, where someone in a schoolbook has the same name as someone else in the class. Always seemed like such a big deal to us kids at the time, but really does seem trivial now as an adult. :P
I used to see those readymade labels and keychains and things with various names on them in stores. They seem to be less prevalent now. More and more American children are given old names with grotesquely mangled, excuse me nonstandard spellings, it would be hard for many of them to find their version on the rack. How sad for them to go through life correcting peopleās wrong misspellings of their names. āActually itās Wawliss.ā
