That’s correct. If you want to lose weight / stay slim, eat slowly, and take long breaks in the meal. I knew a Kiwi who’d take a few mouthfuls, then eat NOTHING for 10 minutes, repeat, repeat. He’d be halfway through his main course when everyone else had finished and was ready to leave. Did it with every meal. Was super-slim, too.
This is exactly why you should always eat slowly. Unless, of course, you are at an all-you-can-eat buffet. In that case, start with the liquids and soups, then the least fatty foods, then the meats, and for heavens sake stay away from the breads, rolls and muffins until the very end! (They always put those at the beginning of the line hoping you’ll fill up and not have room for the more costly items).
