We have had cats who brought wild mice into the house, meowing loudly (around the mouse)… waited until one of the humans showed up, and then released the mouse. I am completely convinced that they were trying to train us to be better mousers.

The (very very) slightly amusing thing is that it worked. I AM a better mouser now than I was then.

Muffin thinks she is a rather lenient master to let her big pets/sevants sometimes seat on HER couch.

I was lucky enough to have a cat for just over 20 years. He never thought of me as another cat. To him, I was autonomous furniture that dispensed food. Still loved the little fart regardless. (p.s. – he was already 3 years old when he adopted me)

Dogs think of themselves as inferior humans. Cats think of humans as inferior cats.

“The Darn Cat”…to differentiate from “That Darn Cat” which were movies in 1965 and 1997:

    1965 version: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059793/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

    1997 version: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120317/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2

Reminds me of when Brian drew Roscoe looking at Opal as she lays his dog dish on the floor and he thinks that she must be a god b/c she feeds and takes care of him. As Opal lays Muffins bowl on the floor, Muffin thinks she herself is a god b/c she is taken care of.

That was a pretty catty rebuff from Muffin in panel 4.

Cats were worshiped as a goddess in ancient Egypt. They have never forgotten.

I always keep two cats. Cat psychologists say that a single cat thinks it is a little person and entitled to full privileges. Two cats have each other for identification and interaction. Three or more cats think you are just a poor excuse for a cat. :)

When I was growing up, my brother and I talked about what our cat “thought” about us. He said she probably thought of us as parents. I said she probably thought we were giant, stupid cats! After 50 years, this strip really made me smile!

Our cat likes to sit where I’ve been sitting, I guess because it’s warm. But if I’m going to sit back down, he knows to move or be sat on.
