Hey if you think things keep getting worse for you in the year 2019, well I’d hate to tell you what it’s going to be like just a few months later in 2020! Talk about a new low!

At my last job, I reached such a low as Brutus is going through when I chucked the job for retirement. I’d been planning on retirement, but wanted to stay till the boss could have some surgery done. It didn’t work out that way. Generally though, retirement has been great. Though my income is much lower, I seem to have more left over to give away.

It would seem that we have a large cadre of cynics with us today… or a lot of people that should consider changing jobs. I am in neither category today, fortunately : )

Consider it an elliptical cycle that will get better. Doesn’t make it any better right now though. However, remember that Christmas is not too far off and concentrate on the good this time of the year…..

I think that most people in the world of work have experienced what Brutus is going through. You either tough it out, or start looking for another job that might have fewer lows. Sometimes that works out, and sometimes it doesn’t. I know this from experience.

Just remember Brutus it’s always darkest just before the dawn, but of course that doesn’t really have much to do with your hopeless situation.

I’ve had times that seemed like that too, Brutus. As my mom used to say, if we didn’t have bad luck, we’d have no luck at all. So I’ve had to just look for the silver lining and keep trucking along, to smoosh together two adages.

Felt like I was at the bottom, when I heard a tiny voice whisper, “Cheer up, things could be worse.” So I cheered up, and sure enough, things got worse.
