My mailbox is #100, next one is #101. We both have the same first name. I get a lot of her mail because they are too lazy to read past the first name! She never gets any of mine though.
A street nearby has similar name and house numbers. My last name has only 5 letters. My mail lands in the box of a person with a 15+ letters. But they are very polite. They drop it off after they read it. Thankfully, we don’t get personal stuff anymore and I guess the bills just aren’t interesting enough to keep.
My neighbor, from two houses down, brought me my mail she received a couple of days ago. I’ve received mail, at times, for the neighbors on both sides of me.
Grew up in the country. When we wanted to mail a package, we’d put it in or beside the mailbox and an envelope with money for postage, the mail carrier would put the right postage on the parcel and put the change in the envelope. We had great mail carriers. One of them was a relative, if she got stuck on the route, she would radio my uncle who would dispatch another relative, or go out himself. to get her back in action.
Our mailman is the greatest. Our daughter is on his route and he drops of their packages at our house because we’re normally home and they work and are not there.

I asked our mailman how many miles he walks a day, he said he didn’t want to know.

Sadly, some delivery people for different services around here seem to have trouble distinguishing between the numbers 6, 7, and 8.

Close. I’d say we get good mail service. The places I’ve lived before, you had your own PO box. All one had to remember was the combination.

It depends… If it’s a bill or junk mail, then no, this is not No. 11. If it’s a check or a gift card, then yes, yes it is!

I sense Al Jaffee’s influence in this.
