I was thinking the word of the year would rhyme with ducked, as in:

Everything was ducked up this year!

    or:

    This year royally ducked us!

Why bring up this complaint to the Brits’ dictionary instead of the Americans’ dictionary (Webster)?

Annus Horribilis, ver. 2.0.2.1. Last year was ver. 2.0.2.0. So looking forward to ver. 2.0.2.2. Is there any alternative?

Most people, the optimists, anyway, usually have feelings of hope and anticipation for the dawning of the new year. Unfortunately, the hangover seems to last longer than the euphoria these days.

They had several words last year, but my favourite by far was “Blursday.” As in: Today is Blursday. Yesterday was Blursday. Tomorrow will be Blursday.

‘Twasn’t so bad out here in the West. Covid restrictions cast aside as useless and unenforceable, no riots or vandalized statues. A lot better than 2020.

Gonna be next years as well.

Might as well say that. After all, end of 2020 seemed all you heard was how 2021 was going to be a good year. And it ended up being the same as 2020.

I wonder if anyone else has done, or is considering, what I’ve done. I decided not to get the PBS 2022 desk calendar and instead bought the Far Side version. Nothing against PBS but knowing that the calendar will be based on 2020 PBS strips (pandemic heavy), I decided to get a calendar that was NOT year specific. Trust me, I’ll still follow PBS on a daily basis, I just don’t want to relive 2020 on a daily basis. Where does the PBS audience stand?

2021 wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be then it gave the punch to the junk by taking Betty White just 17 days before her 100th birthday.
