Annie was the only dog I could take to the fireworks shows and not be bothered. She was 50% Red Heeler, 50% Jack Russel Terrier and 100% stone deaf. 100% faithful too. Smart little whip learned hand signals quickly. Miss you little girl. RIP.
2nd year in a row that shops aren’t allowed to sell fireworks due to Corona (no gatherings to watch the fireworks, no idiots hospitalized due to fireworks-related injuries). I am not a pet owner, but I like that. No tons of fireworks debris in the morning, barely any morons blowing up fireworks since December 29th… They’re discussing to ban the sales on fireworks even after Corona for environmental reasons and for example have one mayor fireworks display organized by the city on December 31st each year.
Strange thing about my Layla: She is absolutely unperturbed by thunder, fireworks, or any loud noises. But she is generally fearless anyway. Except the new kitchen rug. She’s terrified of that.
I’ve luckily never lived anyplace where shooting fireworks for New Years is common. Shooting pistols into the air, on the other hand, is entirely too common.

Gibbs will be tranquilized and sleeping in my closet tomorrow night. He can’t like fireworks or thunderstorms.

I read some states banned fireworks for that reason it terrifies animals.

It’s sad that people celebrate by terrorizing animals and humans with PTSD. Cruelty seems to be endemic in our species.
