Before I joined the Corps I thought Marines exercised, marched and practiced for war until they actually got around to fighting. I quickly learned that the most common battle a grunt has is with a bucket and a swab (mop, not squid) and even garbage cans need to be shined. Join the Corps and See the world …and clean decks and windows all over the globe.

It concerns me that we have so many specific forms of killing, and so many are aware of them.

Middle kid once told me the only reason I had children was to do my work for me.

Our parents took the time to teach all of us the skills we needed to survive. Brother and sisters learned cooking, sewing, baking, changing tires, checking oil, washing clothes, changing engines, cleaning the house… Sure glad they did.

Vacuuming and dusting are very fulfilling chores. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to watch the dirt and dust settle on the newly cleaned areas, giving you the chance to do it all again!

Moved to a ski town and found an apartment for rent close to the mountain, but the owner said she would rather rent to a man because there was snow shoveling involved. Why not make snow sculptures out of the snow Calvin needs to move anyway.

It’s the mother’s daily life to clean the home and work in drudgery.
