I like eggplant. It tastes good, like eggplant should. (Rhyming on purpose!)

I got one ‘cause purple is purdy. Turned out it’s just a squash.

It’s a negplant, the fruit of emotional manipulation.

In Germany, they have Weihnachtsgurke, and whoever finds the Christmas pickle will have good luck throughout the year. In Froglandia, one is to be wary of the pickle, lest you lose your P’s and Q’s, so instead, a pickled aubergine is let loose in town, and whoever can catch it ( you must be quick! It’s a slippery one.) gets a free “safe” coupon, which entitles you to avoid a transgressionary pummeling by Vlad.

Yesterday they were marrying dead people.

Today they are picking up vegetables. (Technically a nightshade fruit.)

I can remember how my old Italian grandmother would take an eggplant, cut it into roughly circular slices, and batter and fry it. I would never eat it that way! In my overseas days, however, I rather liked “the imam fainted”….

…Gladys of Lilliput stayed put in our kitchen cupboard…

… she wore stolen Barbie dresses and nothing else more…

…or less…

…she was very fond of sweet potatoes…

…and we would find them missing once in a great while…

…but eggplant could make her grow to our normal height…

…for about a minute a bite…
