Now, that’s what I call an organic aisle!

A little TOO “fresh” for me!

I lived in the Bronx with a myriad of ethnic groups and their butcher shops.The people from Africa and the Caribbean wanted fresh meat, so the animals were alive until purchased.The people from southern Europe (Italy, Albania, etc) wanted to be sure what they were buying, so the animals were slaughtered and eviscerated, but otherwise intact until purchase. Imagine half a lamb hanging in the window looking like half a lamb.And we North Americans wanted meat with no reminders of its history, wrapped in plastic.

When the cow sits at the table, will she make a pig of herself?

Hmmm, so the choices are beef or pork still on the hoof, a mutant bird that’s possibly a chicken, strange veggies or an alien!

See… a gas station burrito and a Red Bull is lookin’ pretty good now, huh!?

Awww…the poor pig. Look at that sad face. Almost convinces me to be a vegetarian – almost.
