There’s a simple solution, Jeff: Go to the beach, but tell everyone you went to Peoria.

“But d@mned if I didn’t have to pee at 3 o’clock in the morning.”

But for the joke there was no reason to go back and talk to the car salesman.

Plot twist- Jeff lives in Chicago.

Dad had a Mercedes 300SEL 6.3. I could take it out for dinner in Kansas City or I could have lunch in San Francisco or jail.

I’ve been in Peoria at 3AM. I hope to never be in Peoria at 3AM ever again.

Nice to have a year, but telling how long a trip will take tells us nothing if we don’t know where Jeff started.

Or at any other time.

Had a great aunt, uncle, and cousins on Mom’s side in Peoria, but they were only a couple hours away. It was Dad’s side of the family in Minnesota we’d get to about 2-3 am after picking him up at work in Davenport and continuing on, with the two of them alternating driving and sleeping and ready to drop (after some cold cuts and conversation) when we got there. My sister and I, meanwhile, had slept most of the way and were ready for the toybox.
