You might notice a difference in the appearance of the characters, and another artist’s signature near the right base of P1 . Richard explained why in the other blog entry he posted that day, pointed to in my (later than usual) comment yesterday.
I don’t remember this one at all, and I have the complete collection of the strips. Different drawing style; I would have guessed that it was a guest artist, if Randy B hadn’t already pointed it out.
I don’t get it. What is the “po-drew-em” depicting? Flower = rain on petey, bird, and dog? Why is the dog so vicious? Why does petey have dill’s hair? how does the word “po-drew-em” make sense? I get that it’s a mashup of “poem” and “drew” but come on

Having found more Mr. Danders’ episodes, a little over 10 years ago, Richard posted a CdS related blog entry:

In Petey’s world, everything is trying to oppress him (yes even the flower, which actually happened once).

Petey’s young sister (named Alice),
Was lively and not at all callous.
She once drew a poem,
And said “that’ll show ’im”,
“I’m frisky, but quite free of malice.”

This isn’t new. Other artists helped him as his Parkinson’s became worse. Interesting and sad read about his life on Wikipedia.

Sell it as an NFT, Alice, and charge $400,000. It’s a sure thing.

Doesn’t look in the least like Petey, Alice! You need more practice at portraiture!
And certainly not worth $400 bucks!
