My wife skipped a grade, one room school, from grade 3 to 5. Looking back it put pressure on her she did not need.. missing out fun. Any mark/achievement below 95 put her in a panic mode.. that continues (now 77) to this day.
A mention of Wallace the Brave in today’s Comic Strip of the Day. Scroll all the way to the end. (https://www.dailycartoonist.com/index.php/2022/03/01/csotd-the-corpulent-woman-may-never-sing/) It also has a link to an excellent segment of Rhode Island PBS Weekly that gives us a little more info on the author. It is worth watching!
My first-grade teacher handed out the reading books, and when she looked up, I was scanning the list of vocabulary words in the back for anything entertaining. She pinned a note on me, and the next day, I went to Second instead. I’m sure this had its pluses and minuses. It put me in with some people who I still see now and then.
Born in mid-September, I was invited to visit 2nd grade while in first, and the next day continued in first—didn’t know what it was about, other people made the decisions; I went to 2nd at the normal time along with my peers….Perhaps the grownups thought it would be good for social development or whatever not to change tracks.

Class with Wallace and Spud IS an education.

Who, in their right mind, thought giving those two shaving cream was a good idea?

Since when did she place “action” ahead of “learning?”

I mean, I’m a college graduate now, and I’d totally go back to their grade if it meant I could watch Wallace and Spud’s antics all day too.

My October birthday had me start school younger than most classmates. It was a big deal for about the first six years. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Hard to believe Amelia’s not in on that shaving cream fight- Rose must be having a calming effect on her!

I feel like Will Henry is trying to establish more of character in Rose, and I like it.

Oh god. Where did they get all that shaving cream?

The boy next to Wallace looks like Jimmy from Ed, Edd n Eddy. I think the seagull was smart to stay away with all the shaving cream and scissors.

This chaotic energy is what I need in the morning! My coffee & Wallace, and I’m all set.
