This reminds me of online discussions of the Lord of the Rings movies. People loved them or hated them – there’s no middle ground just as with the Tolkien books. There’s no right or wrong here. Just be aware that whatever your reaction to Dune, there will be nice, intelligent people who disagree with you.
I liked all the books even the prequels and sequels. Now Wheel of Time were lousy books I would go to the library read 3 random pages and know the entire book, that series needed to be 5 books and done
Read Dune series more than 50 years ago; newest movie is spot on. I guess I grew up when science fiction wasn’t all science fact and imagination counted for imagery.Or maybe it’s just me.The movie was NO sleeper.
I enjoyed the newest iteration of Dune. I think if you have the attention span and enjoy character building and story-telling, it’s well thought out and I cannot wait to see the next installment. It is a nice break from all the CGI punching that puts me to sleep in a lot of “block-buster hits.”
I have not yet read the book- attempted to a few years ago, but was not in the right frame of mind to get into a new fantasy series at that time.

If you think it’s hard to watch, you should try reading the book.

One of the key lines (in the book and, presumably, the new movie, which I haven’t seen yet): “The sleeper has awakened!”

I could see why it would baffle an artist used to one panel one liners, with limited skills for drawing.

Good one! Just the word “Dune” makes me sleepy!

The new movie was good. Compared to the 1984 version, it’s a masterpiece. The new one is much truer to the book than the older movie.

You think Dune is hard to follow, try reading the sequels. (The movie is good)
