What “tough stands” did Hollis take as a team-oriented leader? She whined about her teammates drinking and dropped the issue immediately when she faced resistance, and she switched positions in the middle of the season entirely for her own benefit. Hollis’s actions mark her as a weak-willed and selfish meddler, not a leader to admire.

I just read a couple of the Jack Berrill collection books of “Gil Thorp” in the 1960s and 70s. It is stunning how good the comic strip was then and how bad this strip is now. Jack Berrill’s family must be horrified…or laughing with chagrin.

While the girls are bickering in the locker room, Mimi makes a beeline toward the pool and bends over to wait for Pedro’s arrival in the rear

With her mission of allegedly mentoring these teen girls as a coach complete, Mimi is ready for Mimosas and a foot massage. Arriba!

P-1: Not sure why so many bloggers like the way the guy with Rock band hair looks so good from behind. It can’t be Mimi. She’s behind curtail # 3.

P-2: Cathy gets ahead of the curve and is already politicing for next year’s Captaincy by promising a completely different approach than Hollis had.

P-3: Mimi follows suit and is already thinking about teaching Cathy how to “lead”.

You’ll play plenty next year until someone decides they would like to change positions and takes your spot.

I was co-captain in high school, and I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t take any tough stands.

This is getting weird; new people magically appearing (P2) and why is Mimi spying on them in P3? Either it is unethical coaching or she’s “looking” for something; either way no bueno

The only tough stand that anyone has taken in this story is climbing onto the cafeteria tables without falling off.

So how come Hollis taking away playing time from Cathy is such a big deal but it was no big deal when the “super sophomore” girl that was brought up from JV took someone’s playing time away?

So yesterday she asked Cressa, “What do you want?” And today the answer was, “I’m just a junior, I’ll play plenty next year.” Huh? That doesn’t make sense. But based on P2, it’s orange sweater girl who said that. For no logical reason. And Cressa, or orange girl, just because you’re coming back next year that does NOT mean you will play a lot. Heck, if you weren’t playing much as a junior, don’t count on a lot the next year, because there will be younger players that have more room to develop that will likely get a lot of playing time. And speaking of developing, check out Mopped Up Thorp to see what’s developing in that universe.
