The sad part is that this situation could have been avoided. Sorry to say this but Ukraine was never going to be a part of either NATO or the EU. I’m just saying it like it is. This is what happens when people in high places make policy based on shows like “The West Wing” or “House of Cards”.

Day late and a dollar short, Varvie.

“(1) President Trump—acting both directly and through his agents within and outside the United States Government—corruptly solicited the Government of Ukraine to publicly announce investigations into—(A) a political opponent, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.; and(B) a discredited theory promoted by Russia alleging that Ukraine—rather than Russia—interfered in the 2016 United States Presidential election.”

“(2) With the same corrupt motives, President Trump—acting both directly and through his agents within and outside the United States Government—conditioned two official acts on the public announcements that he had requested—the release of $391 million of United States taxpayer funds that Congress had appropriated on a bipartisan basis for the purpose of providing vital military and security assistance to Ukraine to oppose Russian aggression and which President Trump had ordered suspended; "

Oh, isn’t what’s happening just awful! Somebody — but not us, of course — should do something to stop it!

Sadly, this is the same situation as what became WWII. Until America is directly threatened, we won’t do a thing.

In the past ten years, Russia has been involved in eleven conflicts that increased Russian power in neighboring countries. We ignored it. Just as England did in WWII, we are talking to Putin and getting his assurances that the current power grab is all he wants and then he will stay home and be a good boy. He won’t. He wants to Make Russia Great Again. Until Biden was elected, he had an American president who thought he was the coolest kid on the playground, which gave him an easy path to do what he is doing. Biden is trying to prevent WWIII, since a person of questionable sanity is in charge of enough nuclear weapons to wipe us off the map. And, we have enough to do the same to them. The threat of mutually assured destruction would be enough to prevent their use if everyone involved were sane. The Russians would have known that was not the case with Trump, but he was in their pocket. Now, we are in WWWIII. The decision isn’t whether we want to start it or not, it’s been going on for a while now. The question is, do we want to allow Putin to take over the world, gathering strength as he goes, until we have no choice other than to fight him, or do we sit back and wait until he is invading Los Angles?

Gary, the theme is a classic I’ve seen in posters over the decades. What is interesting to me is that it has been around for so long that I’ve seen interpretations of it from both perspectives. 1) If the frog keeps fighting eventually the bird will let go 2) If the bird keeps the pressure on eventually the frog will let go and get swallowed.

I’ve been reading your work long enough that I can’t tell which one of these you are encouraging.

Have any of you wondered how Americans would respond if invaded? When confronted with a hypothetical that would put them in the shoes of the Ukrainians, most Americans say they would stand and fight rather than seek safety in another country, according to a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University.

I’m surprised in the Republican response that showed only 68% would stay and fight and 25% would head out to another country. Independents were worse – only 57% would stay and 36% would leave. Very disappointing. And the Dems, less surprisingly, indicated that only 40% would stay and fight while 52% would flee.

    What would you do?

Republican Madison Cawthorn slammed in scathing editorial for pushing Kremlin ‘talking points’

Rep. Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina is among the many far-right MAGA Republicans who has been an apologist for Russian President Vladimir Putin — even during the Ukraine invasion. Cawthorn was more than happy to push Kremlin talking points when, during a March 5 townhall event in Asheville, North Carolina, he attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “thug.” And the editorial board of North Carolina’s Winston-Salem Journal calls him out for it in a scathing editorial published on March 12 and headlined “Our view: Cawthorn Is Deplorable.”

Cawthorn, during his March 5 diatribe, told the crowd, “Remember that Zelensky is a thug. Remember that the Ukrainian government is incredibly corrupt and is incredibly evil and has been pushing woke ideologies.”

Describing “woke ideologies” as “a catch-all term for anything conservatives dislike,” the Journal’s editorial board adds, “(Zelensky) has been leading his nation against a foreign invasion conducted by an unhinged dictator. This is the Zelensky who has defied an invasion force probably a hundred times mightier than Ukraine — one that has committed atrocities and war crimes by destroying hospitals and schools and homes, sending at least 2.5 million refugees to other countries.”

Putin and the republicans are incredibly corrupt and incredibly evil and have been pushing unwoke ideologies such as dropping bombs on civilians.

‘Party of Treason’ Video on Putin’s GOP ‘Puppets’ Viewed Over 1M Times

The video takes aim at eight GOP lawmakers who met with high-ranking Russian officials in July 4, 2018 by accusing them of siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin while he worked to “destabilize Western democracy.”

The lawmakers who attended the meeting included: Montana Senator Steve Daines, North Dakota Senator John Hoeven, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, Louisiana Senator John Kennedy, Kansas Senator Jerry Moran, Alabama Senator Richard Shelby, South Dakota Senator John Tune and Texas Representative Kay Granger.

The video also attacked them for voting against election security bills and in favor of exonerating former President Donald Trump during his first impeachment—when Democrats accused him of withholding military aid to Ukraine to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We can’t allow his puppets to sink their paws deeper into our government,” the advertisement said.

Y’know, you gotta admire the chutzpah of the left wing propagandists here. The Democrats and the left wingers have a love affair with the USSR and Marxism for over 70 years. Then all of a sudden in 2016 when Hillary’s under a massive investigation and she’s running for President, she and the DNC pay Putin’s FSB to come up with the Steele Dossier bit if disinformation. All of a sudden the roles are supposedly reversed and the Republicans and president Trump are playing footsie with the Russians and Putin. Then despite a 3 year, $24 million investigation that found no evidence of any collusion between President Trump, his staff and Putin’s Russia, they’re still spouting this nonsense. But that’s Democrats for you, throughout their history, from the defeat of the CSA and before they’ve been the party of lies, deceit, violence racism, misogyny etc. while the Republicans have opposed their repressive regime all along the way

They haven’t changed any more than Putin has from his Soviet peers. Oh they put on a nice bit of maskirovka and tried to change their outer, public appearance but they’ve the same black hearts as their original KKK creations. Want proof? Look at the lies Putin is telling over his invasion of Ukraine. They’re the same empty, baseless lies that the Democrats tell about President Trump. No proof, no evidence, just lies to suit their own political ends. The Democrats and the leftists here and Putin are two sides of the same coin.
