Well done, Rosemary. I saw a Swallowtail Butterfly yesterday. The first that I have seen in years.

The world of moths is surprisingly beautiful and varied.

One of my favorite moths around here is a diminutive little periwinkle colored moth. Wish I could get a good picture of it.

I had a cool butterfly or maybe a moth in my yard. Wouldn’t open wings so after I took the side shot, I took a front view. Scares the people I show it to! Success!

I remember a National Geographic photo article (pre-internet) The pictures were of moth wings close up, the patterns and colors, shapes, all gorgeous.

There’s one that looks like ecru lace.

Oh, this is, DELIGHTFUL! And yes, the Rosy Maple moth does look like a design for a stuffed toy! When I saw one, for the first time, on the side of my Dad’s blue shed my mouth dropped open and stayed that way a while. So beautiful.

Lilies finally blooming here, very attractive to the large-bodied moth that looks like a small-winged bird (zips around like a hummingbird). Hawk moth?
