I’m reminded of the movie Thumbelina – our heroine is told by someone (who admittedly she doesn’t like) that she’s ugly, and it actually really hurts her feelings. A friend comes and finds her and hears about it and he asks, “Do you love this guy?” “Well, no.” “Who is it that you love?” “Cornelius” (her handsome prince) “And what does Cornelius think?” “Cornelius thinks I’m beautiful.” “Then you are beautiful”. I adore that idea of beauty coming from love, not the other way around.
The only “because” that should be involved in love is “because of who you are,” not because of their physical appearance, which is naturally going to change with age, or because of their financial provision, which can also change, or any other external factor, but simply because of who they are, the person you fell in love with at the beginning.
