I still remember the debate topic from my senior year: “Resolved: That the United States should significantly change the method of selecting presidential and vice-presidential candidates.” Seems to be as pertinent today as it was 47 years ago.
He’s THAT good. Impressive. Shows that he can think on his feet and is usually well prepared, or at least should be. Debate was a serious activity back then. I teach it today at college level, or try to I should say. However, I now know that they were in High School together, possibly sweethearts back then and at least have a History. Oooo…..
We were having a bragging contest one night in our college dorm, and everyone was touting their class rank, or SAT scores or awards until my roomie said, “I WAS the top 10% of my class.” (there were only 11 in his Senior class — IN HS before consolidation) It was hard to top that.
