I doubt Michael Jordan thought overly long about how NIke shoes were produced. Heâs was very apolitical. He once (to paraphrase) basically said everyone buys shoes and he wasnât taking a stance on issues so as to not alienate potential buyers.
So, if they donât work at the local factory for whatever wage, what do they do? Admittedly, ignorant, me. I didnât have any prospects in my hometown and no money for college. I joined the Corps.

Six championships are proof of that.

Makes me wonder if Michael Jordan sued this strip for âdefamation of characterâ.

This is true. All great athletes are extraordinarily competitive. In order to play and compete at the highest levels of any sport, they have to be so.

The competitiveness isnât the issue here, folks. Keep your eyes on the target, not the decoy.
The target is that $8/week is nothing, and double nothing is still⊠nothing.

Apply that logic, and where would it end?
Employees being paid enough that they didnât have to work 2, or even 3 jobs?

You have to remember that at this time, a few poor kids were literally killing each other over a pair âhero-endorsedâ tennis shoes.

Ouch. As if what Nike and every other US capitalist business does with slave labor is a Black athleteâs fault.

Does Michael Jordon know the wages Nike pays their workers when he agrees to represent them? Maybe he lost his integrity along the way to fame.

In matters of libel and slander, truth is an absolute defense.
