Here’s an oldie that perhaps some of you may not have heard:

A man meets an old friend one day. “How’s your family?” the friend asks.

“Well, my wife and my daughter are fine, but I’m worried about my son.”

“What’s wrong with your son?” his friend asks.

“He doesn’t know how to drink or play poker,” is the reply.

“But…but why on earth would that be a problem?”

“Because he drinks and plays poker.”

Why would jazz be banned when N.O. is famous for jazz?

Venus flytraps, and other carnivorous plants, are generally adapted to soil with major deficits of essential nutrients, especially nitrogen

Heinz game a few different, seemingly contradictory explanations for the choice of the number 57, including lucky numbers of himself or his wife, or psychological marketing principles.

The funny thing is, that number was actually an understatement when he came up with it in 1896, as they had already been selling more than 57 different products for about a decade.

I’ll bet he liked his cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57, and French fried potatoes, a big kosher pickle, and a cold draft beer.

My wife asked me to put ketchup on the shopping list.

Now I can’t read any of it.

The Venus Fly Trap sounds like a perfect name for an interplanetary fishing hoax.

Take care, may 57 year-old marathon enthusiast Earl “I’ll Ketchup To The Leader One Of These Days” Limpord be with you, and gesundheit.

The picture of the Venus flytrap is correct. They have their flowers on a stalk high up, so the pollinators don’t get eaten.

Heinz: partially true. He selected the “57” based on numbers he liked, but there were already 60 products in the company when the slogan was created.

In the movie The Manchurian Candidate, Senator Iselin has trouble remembering how many card carrying communists are in the Department of Defense. He asks his wife to give him a number that is easy for him to remember. He asked that as he is tapping a bottle of Heinz ketchup. In the next scene, he announces “There are exactly 57 card-carrying members of the Communist Party in the Department of Defense at this time.”

And God turned to Gabriel and said, “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains and soaring hawks, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of deer, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich so the inhabitants prosper, and call them ‘Canadians’, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord” asked Gabriel, “is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbours I shall inflict upon them.”

From Wikipedia: “…specifically within a 100-kilometer (60 mi) radius of Wilmington, North Carolina.” Fascinating!
