Tracy takes Coffyhead by surprise while Sam approaches the loading door out back. The “BLAM pang!” shots don’t worry me. That’s the sound of them hitting the garage door meaning that they likely didn’t hit their targets. The other blam without a “pang!” may have hit its target.
It appears that Bronko grabbed of those tools that I was noticing were within easy reach of him in the May 9 strip and attacked Coffyhead’s face.
Coffyhead has the automatic, no sign of Bronko. My guess was even with shaky caffienated hands, Coffyhead couldn’t miss at close range. Tracy will need a new spy
1-DT: FREEZE! I’VE GOT YOU FOR VIOLATING THE LOCAL NOISE ORDINANCE. Hmmm. That firecracker sure didn’t faze this guy sleeping on the floor though….
2-COFFEY HEAD: Firecracker? Sleeping? OH! That guy’s drunk. You should go and call for the drunk wagon. I’ll wait here… DT: Good thinking, citizen. I’ll be right back.
3-COFFY: BANG BANG BANG! ! THOSE DAMN DOOR SPRINGS ALWAYS BREAK AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIMES! BANG BANG! IS ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME RAISE THIS DOOR. IT’S SO HEAVY WHEN THE LIFT ASSIST SPRINGS ARE BROKE!
SAM:* I’ll just tip-toe past. No sense in risking a back injury!
OFF TOPIC: This showed up on an old drive. I’d forgotten I had saved a copy. One of my first narration jobs was a manual for a (I kid thee not) M LITTLE PONY game. I got bored about ten minutes into the project and started to freewheel. This is actually the second of two ad lib rants that just showed up unbidden during that session.
Now, narrating pulp material or travel guides, I managed to usually do the job nearly sort-of professionally. I just have these VOICES, and they want to come at awkward times. Well, that and…MY LITTLE PONY??
It’s too bad that in these PC days we are not allowed actually to see the shootout at Coffyhead’s hideaway, nor to know until the whole scene has been thoroughly sanitized who has been shot, if anyone. Yesterday’s BLAM was ominous for Bronko, but we don’t know. Tracy is usually a deadshot (literally), but that series of BLAMs in panel 3 today suggests Coffyhead offered some resistance and return fire to Tracy, Did he fall? Who knows? Snowflakes cannot survive the sights of violence; give them a saucer of weak tea to sip on while we of sturdier stuff survey the crime scene (I am reminded of the famous photos of Chicago’s “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre”).

And Sam Catchem! Stop standing around and mulling over the sounds of gunfire like a little wuss and get going to the aid of your partner! Geez, even the veteran sidekick hesitates to act!
I have never seen Tracy shoot and not connect with his target. As for the other fellow, probably took a shot to the gut to bring him down…chances are he bled coffee rather than blood.

Good morning™, shooting galleries !
I hope those are BBs pinging off the door. Loogie must be holing up behind a chair while Coffy shoots, with “powder” poofing out all over.

They’re using airsoft guns? Even a .22 would punch holes through sheet metal that thin… In a normal world, Sam should start stepping back.

Pang – a sudden sharp pain or painful emotion.
Interesting word to use. I can’t recall seeing it used to describe gun shots before.

You’d think after all these years, Sam would think, Another shootout, eh? Ho-hum…

Gee Sam; Ya think? Grab some cover, and, your back up, then do something about the idiots seemingly firing blind.

I’m remembering how Rughead was killed way back in the 1950’s;and worried those slugs are going to ricochet off the metal door and hit Sam.
Well,we got some action—-and only 2 weeks ago Coffy thought he was in the clear.Still don’t know why he picked Tracy’s city to come back to.
Then again, bad guys have always stupidly tried to rub Dick’s nose in something or other.

That’s a LOT of shots considering Tracy had the drop on him.

There’s smoke coming from the barrel of Coffy’s gun before Tracy yells freeze. Has he already shot the driver?
