Hubby was friends with some men at the British Embassy in San Francisco through his job. One year we were invited to the Queen’s Birthday Ball. Quite an event.
HOW COOL of Fred to remember the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The anniversary of D-Day is also right around the corner. June 6, 1944 – the Allies launched an invasion of Normandy, crossing the English channel! Liz became queen in 1952, when she was 25 – so she was born in 1927 – so she would have been about 17 when the invasion was launched. Since the Jubilee is scheduled to be a 4-day celebration, hopefully, she will also make some mention of the D-Day invasion. She married Prince Philip in 1947. WE WERE there – for all of it! Very exciting time. Good show – Fred!

According to a PBS special I saw, Queen Elizabeth II is the only living leader that also served in WWII. Kudos and congrats to her.

I was in London for her 50th Jubilee, and we thought that was remarkable. Wow for 70! Go Liz.
