The impressive thing for me about the first lunar landing was that I watched it at my wife’s house (we were dating at the time) and then left to catch the bus to go back home.
It was Brooklyn and it was in July. Every house and apartment building had their “front room” window open. Every one of them showed the glow of a television set. I had continuous audio for the entire half mile trek to the bus stop.
For that brief moment, I believe, all of us were one people.
Who would pay the most to have their drink can to be the first popped open on the moon? Assuming the can did not burst first from lack of atmospheric pressure.
