I hate fireworks. Poor animals—wildlife and pets.

Oh, yeah. “Scare the heck out of American pets” night is coming. We do the same every November…

It is a good idea to buy them a week early, because you never know if you wait until the last day that the most spectacular looking fireworks will probably be sold out!

I live in the US. I’ve already heard fireworks at 9:30 to about 11:00 every night for a week.

I know Henry’s a fraidy dragon, but you put fireworks in the same area as a fire-breathing dragon, Wiz?

Canada Day is this Friday July 1st and we celebrate with fireworks as well. The town puts on a 30 minute display and despite being almost a mile away from our house it scares the bejeebers out of our cat and dog.

I heard someone say that, for a season, he liked listening to the 1812 Overture. Then he notice his dog was no longer afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks.

Buckle up buttercup. …actually, I hear it is going to be a quiet night over a lot of the country. Droning instead of exploding. I can get behind that. (I’m still going to burn off a package of Black Cats, if I can find any.)

Oy! They’re outlawed here! But that doesn’t stop the idiots from blowing them off already…it’s not even the 4th…I’ve been hearing them all week…next door to me is a police dispatcher, and they break every rule, ordinance and law in the book….and get away with it all. Don’t even get me started…

It’s not just the pets. We humans also get annoyed by the random pops going on nightly around this time.

My first dog was terrified of thunder and fireworks. He would either hide in a closet or try to climb up onto your pillow even with your head already on it. My second dog showed no fear. He wanted to go outside and bark at the noise.

I guess we are getting close to the night that I have to take my therapy dog to the hospital about 8pm and keep her there until about 1am. However, it’s only a mile or so away from the idiots who live behind me and seem to be interested in explosives beyond what’s legal, since our dogs (I go with another handler and dog) won’t even go outside at the hospital due to the noise and smell. I confess it gets to me, since my own home appears to be in a war zone those nights. I don’t know where else to go, and at least we can visit patients and staff who are not happy spending a holiday in the hospital.

My dog used to chase the bottle rockets. He would also go after the balls from roman candles.
