Dang…I missed seeing those. I was born in 1953.
I have a 1943 steel penny.
1944 and 1945 the copper reportedly came from used shell casings.
If those who start the wars would suffer from them, there would be peace on earth for all times.
I was going Trick-or-Treating during the war. Some people were giving pennies instead of candy … worth more than a handful of candy corn. Working in the dark, you might get a dime by mistake. That was a fortune at that time.
