I guess mama bird has decides to raise the babies in the entry. I had to lock the front gate so nobody would come up to the door and scare them away. Sigh…..
It is also PEACHES DAY!!! The Tree Ripe Fruit Company from Georgia is coming to a nearby town with their peach truck. I have to work, but my brother, Mark, is going there to buy a box of peaches. He and I will split the cost and each of us get half of the peaches. I am so looking forward to those fantastic peaches!!!
The kittens came back from their adventure full of the dickens. They played hard until after 10 last night and were up and at it when I got up with Brad at 3. They ate most of their food and drank nearly all of the big bowl of water.
The shelter has been charging $20 for cat adoptions for the past 20 yrs. Which is not nearly enough. Starting this weekend, it goes up to $50. It’s much more in line with other shelters and rescue orgs.
Sorry Chesney, but that man probably gets out all the time WITH his dog! Hiked the most popular trail in the Eastern Sierra yesterday – 8 miles round trip passes by 9 lakes! Started late – 7 – but still had mostly solitude for 3 hours before the masses started showing up. My late start was due to little Lucky Jack peeing on my bed just before midnight. He has never ever had an accident in the house and I am watching him closely before making a vet appointment. Had to strip the entire bed and sleep on the couch which is luckily very comfortable but couldn’t get up at 3 like I had planned. The trail has very little shade and was quite warm for me even at 10,000 feet. I’ll wait until fall before going back. 100 here again today.
My daughter (in Connecticut) excitedly phoned me last night to tell me she witnessed a mama chipmunk carrying 6 little babies from nearby to just in front of their side door (which luckily is not used). Mama had built a new home/habitat with 3 tunnel entrances/exits. Daughter and husband had been feeding her nuts, corn, etc. even before she showed up with her little crew. There may be a video awaiting me on FB this morning. They also have 3 resident baby bunnies. Can’t wait to visit CT again!!!!!
I like cats, but dogs are nice too. (Well, some dogs are.) On another note, saw a finch, a Wilson’s warbler, a spotted towhee, six robins, and a raven while out walking today.
