Today is:

INDEPENDENCE DAY

NATIONAL BARBECUED SPARERIBS DAY. I was planning a cookout (not spareribs, though) but the weather forecast calls for rain much of the day. We do need rain, but I wish it would wait until after dark and after the fireworks! Due to the forecast, our fireworks have been postponed until July 23. I have no idea how they picked that date. I have to work that night.

If you’re in Utah, it might be that the fireworks will now happen for Pioneer Day, July 24, but since that’s a Sunday, they’ll shoot ’em off on the 23rd.

Lil Ollie must be light as a feather. Just discovered my bike has a flat, eliminating my plans to use it for this morning’s local activities. It will take me forever to fix it as I am somewhat inexperienced, but I hate asking my good friend and neighbor who does everything for everyone here in town and is already stressed from too much company coming and going this weekend. Youtube it is.

Illegal fireworks went on till 3 am, so was up with the cats…trying to calm them. Not much luck. Some are still hidden this morning. Our town is using a drone with GPS to locate the offenders….citations issued to the property owner! Hope it’s working…but doubt it. Our police and fire get thousands (yes thousands) of complaints and only a couple of hundred convictions. So, not working. I need a nap!

At least Oliver is on good terms with the squirrels. He’s such a nice kitty. Hope he lands safely. On another note, saw a nuthatch, four rabbits, three robins, two sparrows, a raven, and a wren while out walking today.
