It’s cute that Stantis thinks today’s SCOTUS wouldn’t simply overturn any such codification…

Because if SCOTUS does it you don’t have to take a position which might be unpopular now or in a future election.

Did you notice all the fundraising going on, so Democrats can be elected to do what they could have done at any time since January of last year?

The Republicans do it too, of course. When they controlled the two elected branches of the national government, they could have stopped funding for Planned Parenthood, which they claim is a bad organization, but they did not.

Why? Because they don’t face competition from new political parties, so they can promise to be better than the other duopoly party and get votes — even if they don’t ever ever deliver.

Golly! Who passed the laws that created the duopoly?

The duopoly parties, of course, about a century ago.

And voter turnout declined over the next several decades to modern low levels, where it has stayed ever since. And so has election competitiveness.

Those are claims that are objectively verifiable. And they are true. See Why America Stopped Voting_, by Mark L. Kornbluh for particulars. http://www.worldcat.org/search?q=%22why+america+stopped+voting%22&qt=resultspage

Other, less quantitative claims, are also supported by Kornbluh. One is: involvement in the political process is much lower.

Democrats should have federalized there legality of abortion in 2009 when they had a large majority in the house and and 60 seats in the senate. Now that chance has been lost to history . . .

Yes, they should have. But they thought it was safe because the Supreme Court nominees SAID it was safe. They lied.

Judges committed perjury and were rewarded with a lifetime appointment as one of the most powerful people in the country for breaking the law.

What kind of country are we if there are no consequences for that?

The Dems are not as viciously organized as the GQP, that factor is self-evident. Time to wizen up Dems.

First, (and I know this will come as a shock to some people), the Democratic party does not march in lock step singing, “Hi, el Leader!”, they are a diverse group representing their constituencies and some oppose abortion. Secondly, why would it seem necessary to codify a right? Is there a law saying you have the right to assemble? No, because it is a right the Supreme Court recognized. Finally, it takes 60 votes to pass a law through the Senate, currently, now that it is apparent that the SC gives two figs for precedented rights, there are not those votes available, getting rid of the filibuster, by a carve out or any other mechanism guarantees that the autocratic Republican party will create chaos when next they control the Senate. Why don’t American people stand up and demand a constitutional amendment? Are they too lazy to do their jobs and vote? No, we just couldn’t imagine that a person could be required to sacrifice their health or life for the possibility of another person.

We technically have NO parties right now! One has turned traitor AGAINST America, and one is run by cowardly cuckolds! Sure, the left DOES have some dynamite progressives, but a HANDFUL.

Yes Winslow … there is a very large percentage of the people in the USA (as well as the world) that would “whole heartedly” subscribe to your pronouncement: “Since when does anyone pay a price for anything?” As a result of that attitude, the U.S. of A. is very near the edge of time that will preclude law and order. Thus and thereby—-achieving the goal of the long suffering ANTIAFTA movement, to install the “Anti-Christ;” and, one world government. The current interlude (a distraction)—-2020/2024—-is as the dark night just before a scorching *red dawn." Are you making preparations? Are you making preparations for the dance of the dragon in the sky; and, for the growl of the hungry bear in the woods (there is a bear in the woods). All will then culminate “Just East Of Eden.” justsayin’

Ironically, the House did do that, just last Friday, while this comic was in the queue. (https://news.yahoo.com/house-representatives-passes-bills-protect-213312530.html)
