The young man made his proposition and waited for her response. “I shall gladly bed you Thursday for a ten Lira note today,” was her wimpy reply.

(Is this the first Melcher Masterpiece formatted as a meme?)

And you can make it on a bleak day, a freak day, or a week day,

    be my guest,

but never, never on a Sunday, a Sunday, the one day

    I need a little rest.

Stores used to have lay-away plans. This brothel had a lay-a-day plan…

And for those who wanted prayers said for them while they sinned, a lay preacher was available for a modest fee…

    One gets the distinct impression/

That we’re viewing the bargaining session/

    Which will swiftly proceed/

    To their “doing the deed”/

Then they’ll both hasten off to confession///

And there, to the ear of a priest/

They’ll confess they succumbed to “The Beast”/

    Then go back into “action”/

    Having found satisfaction/

Since from guilt they’ve been duly released.

Whose details they are gladly forgetting/

    They lightheartedly lumbered/

    A Street in Venice

    Paste (including the quote marks)

"Category:Paintings of Venice by John Singer Sargent" site=https://commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found, and once there find the text string A Street, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #2957 (July 10, 2022) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to the blog entry with info about this artist. So far, 6 works, by this artist, have been used here (7 times total, including 1 repeat). The September 22, 2021, strip has the prior (the repeat).

This painting makes me want to go the gallery. There’s a magnificent gallery a day’s drive from here. It focuses on American art and includes British-Americans like Sargent and Whistler.

The Emperor Diocletian/Was Roman (rather than Grecian)/Being somewhat erratic/He avoided the Attic/And also all vistas Venetian ///

Diocletian, you’ll probably find/To the Southwest was far more inclined/He eschewed the Northeast/And his “int’rest” decreased/You could call him “Venetian blind”.

Per favore, mi scusi, Amici ! Poor Ishmael was trapped by rain today in a picnic shed in a park, with his bicycle and his iPhone. Inspired by Sargent, Ishmael began to remember Italy. The deluge of drivel is the result.
