“Go easy on ’em” the trouble with most mainline churches. If Jonathan Edwards was around today “Sinners In The Hands of An Angry God” would be the ‘go easy’ sermon.
The churches that are growing are those who do preach what God’s word says. People are tired of namby-pamby sloppy agape. “Truth” confronts sin and brings repentance, liberty, joy and peace.
Y’all do realize that Jesus was a trouble maker? In fact he caused so much trouble that they crucified him. Many great preachers got in trouble: Martin Luther was hauled before a church court for his preaching, “Here I stand, I can do no other!” Martin Luther King wanted to change the world, he drew thousands to his sermons, they shot him for it.
If as a preacher you get in trouble for trying to make the world a better place, you will be in good company.
“You can never go wrong if you stick with the word of ’God!” is such a farce. Throughout the history of mankind(way longer than the Theist’s 6,000 years), just about every conflict, war, atrocity has had a religious/superstitious cause. Many because one group is saying that their ’imaginary friend(s) is/are better than your ’imaginary friend(s).
The “word of God” – written by Hebrew men based on Greek translations of Mesopotamian texts of folktales that probably originated in what is now known as Ethiopia. Yep… You can’t go wrong!

Argue with the author, not the herald.

The problem is that too many pastors preach not the word of God, but the words of the world.

Too many ministers preach to please those with deep pockets. Thank God my late father and current pastor are not that way. Jehovah jireh.

I draw the line at anyone who says (or implies) their belief is the ONLY way. I direct them to the Highway, and I don’t mean the one to Heaven.
