Somehow, methinks that Calvin’s parents would not be totally averse to signing a chloroform waiver if Miss Wormwood presented it.

I think the teacher would rather have him stay outside for the rest of the day, to be quite honest.

A friend and I accidentally did something similar once. We were playing an intense game of tetherball during recess, and when we finally looked up, everyone else had gone in.

Ah, Calvin my boy. You may soon find that there are others, larger and more powerful than you, who do not share your views.

I’ve been looking at “The Days Are Just Packed” again. This week’s comic strips come right at the end of that so the next week’s strips will be from “Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat” which Watterson has said is his favourite Calvin and Hobbes title. There will be one more recess strip tomorrow although today’s would have been an appropriate ending to the recess theme. Perhaps this week’s strip are set during recess on different days.

Just another example of schools’ attempts to stifle kids’ free spirits and turning them into mechanical automatons.

Kid friend used to stall until swing had finally stopped at bottom of arc before quitting. Usually put him just a tad past the late bell but he got by with it for months. Think teacher understood that fussing wasn’t going to slow down that last swing, so she went with it.

Alas, there is no more recess in public schools

After reading every comic in this franchise I STILL never get bored of the comics they still make me happy to read! Btw this will forever be the best comics ever.

Calvin is a great reason for the school to install child size hamster wheels that are connected to electrical generators. Wear the kids into submission AND generate power.

Rebels scorn the “sheeple” who obey the rules and get in line. Only rebels are truly free to be themselves until they can get enough money/power to force other people to obey them and follow their rules.

Calvin… a true member of the “Me” generation.

This is the second day running that I have had the time to read this marvellous strip a second time and make new comments.

I always had enough energy for 2 recesses. All wound up and nowhere to go.

Yes, Calvin all of us can relate to you as young ones in school. The recess ending bell was a nuisance.
