Just pick a low note and blow.

I can barely sound either of the bamboo flutes I have.

I’m surprised he could carve one well enough to generate anything but a blowing noise.

I’ll bet that in “Surviving in the Wilderness Boy Scout Manual”, nowhere in the top 10 priorities does it say, ‘carve a flute’.

Ian Anderson he ain’t.

I like Monty’s desire to prof new things without thinking of the consequences for people around him.

At least he tried.

I’m impressed at the accomplishment in which he was able to make the sound of the staff and treble clef.

Jethro Tull would b proud.

But other than that…..

Monty should have my you-tube video ‘’how to make a flute from a dirty old stick’’

EVERYBODY is a critic!

OK, 1) a whippoorwill suffering from pesticide exposure is a very cruel image, and 2) connected to Monty’s hand-carved flute playing, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. I’m ashamed.

We had bamboo growing at our home near the Oregon coast when I was growing up. I tried and tried to make a flute out of it, but never succeeded. If I had, it would probably sound like Monty’s.

That’s where the “rustic” part comes in.

You’re in luck. It’s a moose call. :)

Let us not make sport of the handicapped. Most accomplished flautists get to work with 4 fingers on each hand.
